Parque Ucumari – Pereira Colombia

Colombian coffee largely comes from the area surrounding the city of Pereira in central-western colombia. Near the town is a beautiful forest reserve called Parque Ucumari.

We took a CHIVAS (colorful truck turned into bus) there and then trekked in for about 2 hours, chasing butterflies as you go into the rainforest. There is a nice loghut called Refugio el Pastora which you can book ahead in town.

We booked camping ground.

There, we met a rugged PRIEST, a mother and a young boy (not related maybe) and they invited us to trek with them the next morning into a hidden forest recently ravaged by earthquake and landslides to find this most

dramatic waterfall.
