Nanga Parbat

Men’s Vogue magazine (December 2007 issue) says this:

Known affectionately as the Man Eater, this craggy monster located in Kashmir is an enormous ridge of rock and ice.

The peak is the ninth highest in the world

and its southern side features the tallest mountain face on the planet, Rupal face which rises 4,600 m straight up from its base.

Measuring at the peak of 8,126 m high and with plenty of avalanche to spare , Men’s vogue also say Nanga Parbat is

the SECOND most deadliest mountain in the world.

We were only going to the base camp, an area called the “fairy meadows.”

That is manageable.
