Burmese Revolutionary Puppets

Myanmar’s  life-like Puppets are controlled by strings attached to their forehead, neck, spine, elbows and hands, knees and heels but they have great power.

Since the 18th century, puppet theatre has been used to send a message to the King.

Only puppet masters could speak freely in front of the King,  using the puppets, while entertaining him without fear of offending.

Ah, those were the days before they invented the censorship board.
